How to make a header or banner for blogger

UPDATE!!!
THE CODE NO LONGER SAYS !--HEADER IMAGE CODE YAAAY --

MINE SAYS:

*div id='header-inner'** *a href='http://bearuhblogger.blogspot.com/' style='display: block'** *img alt='Bearuh Blogger' height='160' id='Header1_headerimg' src='http://www.geocities.com/summer_wiinter/AnimalHeader.jpg' style='display: block' width='600'/** */a** */div**

REPLACE * WITH <
** WITH >

Finally I have the time to post a very short tutorial on how to change your header for blogger...
First of all.. make some sort of pic (mine is a jpeg) and make it about 100 px (pixels) high and 600 long..
Once you have done that.. you need to save it onto the web somewhere.. I saved mine onto geocities since I already had a free acount with them. If you need help on how to do that just let me know...
Then... once you have that up copy (ctrl+c) the address of the page you have it on...
Log onto your blogger account and go to Template...Then on my site page go to View then source so you can see what my code looks like. slowly scroll until you find something like this:

!--HEADER IMAGE CODE YAAAAY --
a href=htt//bearuhblogger
image src = geocities.com/summer_wiinter

It is not EXACTLY like that but all you have to look for basically in my code is something like HEADER IMAGE CODE YAAAAY

The reason it says HEADER IMAGE CODE YAAAAY is because it makes it easier for me to find where to put the link to my header pic when I change it... see how it says a href= and my site name? (on your code in the template tab)yours will say your site of course... then right below that make it say the same thing mine does img src= but with the link to the page your pic is! it is that simple.. the hardest part is finding where to put the link in the code...

so basically make it look like mine but with your links...

Just look at mine, have patience and you will see where it will be in your code... If you need more help on finding it just let me know and I will try to explain it a little more detailed.

Hope this helps! :D

Thanks so much! This is really great for HTML dummies (=me!)... I had just spent hours searching through other how-to-change-the-header, but nothing worked. Then I googled your entry - excellent!

I don't know how to post my image on geocities. is there any other site other than geocities? And also i can't figure out this: "Log onto your blogger account and go to Template...Then on my site page go to View then source so you can see what my code looks like." What do you mean about my site page? is it YOUR Site page or there's something on Template saying "your site"? i havent seen it.

I meant my site.. not yours (to view the source)

Another place to upload your banner would be flickr.com

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the info.. I have to admit though, your post is a little difficult to read with the white background and light colored text. I copied and pasted it to word so I could read it. Thanks

Thank for the info. Usually i get some picture from images.google.com and bigger the picture. Then add some wording on top of banner. Walla! The banner design is done.

Thanks for this info....I'm close but I'm still not getting something. You suggested posting to flickr? Would one just upload a photo and use that url? I tried and it says it is invalid. Any ideas on the best way to post it to the web to have a valid link?
Thanks a lot!
